BHC FIRST SCORE: Holston falls in state final
For the second straight year, Holston High School’s softball team had to settle for a state-runner up trophy.
The Cavaliers committed three errors and managed just two hits against Bath County pitcher Jailyn Ford in suffering a 3-0 loss to the Chargers on Saturday morning in the VHSL Group A, Division 1 championship game at Virginia Tech.
Holston fell behind 2-0 after the top of the first inning and the overpowering Ford made Bath County’s lead stand up. The left-hander struck out 15 and walked three.Freshman Amelia Wampler accounted for both of Holston’s hits.
